We are always looking for new viewpoints and talents at Diskord,
and love receiving submissions. If you want to submit an article, here are some things you should know:
1) Brevity is great. We are not forcing you to write Maroon-length 400-word articles, but we do encourage a little self-editing Your article should ideally be no more than 3 double-spaced pages.
2) We like sidebars. If you are writing about a complex issue (i.e. with lots of names and historical references), don't expect your reader to go to Wikipedia. Supply some extra information at the end of the article and mark it as sidebar. Our design editor will finish the job.
3) Keep it simple. Write in clear language without long latinate words. Have an argument and do not stray. If you need more help, we highly recommend William Zinssers On Writing Well.
4) Write about something you care about.
5) Make the deadline.
The deadline for the spring 2008 issue is Friday, April 25th, and submissions can be sent to diskord.submissions@gmail.com. |
